SCO POWER Showcases Maglev Technology
for Energy-Efficient Alumina Production
Recently, the 21st China Aluminum Summit was held in Qingdao, bringing together companies and technology providers from across the aluminum industry to discuss energy efficiency, cost reduction, digitalization, and low-carbon development.
At the summit, SCO POWER showcased its Maglev energy-saving solutions for alumina production, including Maglev vacuum pumps, Maglev blowers, Maglev chillers, Maglev heat pumps, and Maglev low-temperature waste heat power generation systems.
These technologies are designed for key processes such as filtration, desulfurization, process cooling, and waste heat recovery. Among them, Maglev vacuum pumps used in disc filtration and gypsum dewatering applications can achieve average energy savings of around 40% compared with conventional equipment, while Maglev blowers, chillers, and heat pumps can deliver average energy savings of around 30% under suitable operating conditions.
SCO POWER’s Maglev equipment has already been applied in alumina production projects. In one alumina calcination plant in Guangxi, three 700 kW Maglev turbo vacuum pumps replaced six conventional water-ring vacuum pumps, achieving a 40.2% energy-saving rate and annual electricity savings of approximately 3.42 million kWh.
In another high-pressure vacuum application, a Maglev high-pressure vacuum pump achieved an energy-saving rate of 40.5%.
By combining Maglev technology with application-specific engineering, SCO POWER continues to explore efficient solutions for energy-intensive alumina production and support customers in reducing energy consumption, operating costs, and carbon emissions.
