SCO Power Maglev Heat Pump: Innovative Heating Upgrade for Weifang Community
In the pursuit of sustainable development and enhanced quality of life for residents, the transformation of traditional heating systems has become a crucial issue in urban management. Faced with high operational energy consumption and maintenance costs, a residential community in Weifang City, Shandong Province, took a critical step forward. By adopting the magnetic levitation centrifugal ground-source heat pump unit independently developed by SCO Power, the community has not only successfully upgraded its heating system but also achieved economic and environmental benefits far exceeding expectations.
Challenge: The High-Cost Dilemma of an Aging System
The community covers a building area of 27,000 square meters. The core of its original heating system consisted of three imported screw-type ground-source heat pump units that had been in operation for twenty years. As the equipment aged, problems became increasingly apparent: energy consumption kept rising, leading to persistently high operating costs; the failure rate increased, resulting in complex and costly maintenance; operational noise also became a factor affecting the residents’ tranquil living environment. The community urgently needed a new, efficient, stable, and economical heating solution.
Solution: Efficient Replacement with a Single Unit
After rigorous technical evaluation and solution comparison, the community ultimately chose to replace the original three screw units with one high-capacity SCO Power magnetic levitation centrifugal ground-source heat pump unit. Since its commissioning in November 2024, this magnetic levitation heat pump unit has demonstrated outstanding performance:

While ensuring the same heating demand (maintaining a stable indoor temperature not lower than the statutory standard of 18°C) under comparable operating conditions, the unit’s average operating power is only 73.2 kW. Compared to the original system’s average power of 156.9 kW, the comprehensive power saving rate reaches as high as 53.4%.
- Significantly Improved Environment:
The equipment’s operational noise is effectively controlled below 80 decibels, markedly enhancing the acoustic environment around the equipment room and the community as a whole.
- Stable Heating Guarantee:
Throughout the heating season, the unit operated smoothly, excellently adapting to various external temperature changes, continuously delivering stable and comfortable warmth to the 27,000-square-meter space, fully meeting the requirements of the Weifang City Heating Regulations.
The success of this case validates the leading-edge practicality of domestically developed high-end magnetic levitation heat pump technology in large residential community heating scenarios.
